Ancestral Medicine September Newsletter

Greetings all.

Intensity upon intensity.

Much of the Western U.S. burns or is covered in smoke, major flooding in the Southeast from waves of hurricanes, ongoing political misery and polarization, and nearly 200,000 dead in just six months from unchecked COVID. Solidarity and kindness with many other places hurting, and also it's an acutely rough moment here.

Nesting in over the past two seasons has also been a time of creativity and new visioning. I'm happy to share our first e-book, Animist Psychology: Healing Self and Culture Through the Path of Relationship (details below). It's brief as is the form, and sketches out some key concepts on bridging animist principles into psychological theory and clinical mental health practice.

Registration is also open for Northern fall courses Animist Psychology: Earth, Ancestors, and Mental Health, and Foundations of Ritual. Both will be well resourced with four optional live calls each week in international time zones with practitioner-anchored small break-out groups. Folks in the current courses have been finding that the regular times to meet up with awesome folks around the world to discuss ritual arts, cultural healing, and Earth devotion have also served as a source of support through the funky times.

Yesterday we completed a 22-gathering pandemic-focused series that began in April. These teachings and rituals have been really nourishing for me also, and Bring Out Your Dead (April - June) and
Kindling the Need-Fire (July-September) are now available in full in archived form. Each includes 22 experiential guided practices and over 16 hours of teaching with the times.

On the pandemic note, feel free to enjoy the recent interview Virus Respect, COVID-19, and Tips for Not Dying with Dr. Siv Watkins.

Keep looking out for one another and asking for what you need in case it may be available. Thanks for your interest in the offerings and steady through the times.

Registration now open! Ritual is both art and discipline, cultivation of personal intuition and renewal of ancestral knowledge, instinctual and learnable. The styles and approaches to ritual are as diverse as people, human and otherwise, and the only ‘wrong’ ways to approach may be those that become untethered from love, wisdom, and relationality.

In the spirit of kind, inclusive, and non-dogmatic learning, this course is for anyone seeking to strengthen their foundational skills in ritual arts. Course material assumes no prior knowledge. Content may also be useful to priests, educators, and practitioners of diverse traditions in search of fresh ways to transmit basic teachings.

The course is eight weeks long with a weekly pre-recorded lesson, a live Q&A call with Dr. Foor (recorded for playback), and three additional (optional) live calls each week. Our meetings will be a blend of responsive teaching and experiential guided practices each gathering. Payment plans and scholarships are available.
If you have previously taken the Foundations of Ritual course, you can repeat the course for a
past participant rate of $60.
